David Bowie - TVC15 b/w We Are The Dead (1976) - single

"TVC 15" is a song written and recorded by David Bowie released in 1976.
The track was inspired by an episode in which Iggy Pop, during a drug-fuelled period at Bowie’s LA home, hallucinated and believed the television set was swallowing his girlfriend. Bowie developed a story of a holographic television, “TVC 15”. In the song, the narrator's girlfriend crawls into the television and afterwards, the narrator desires to crawl in himself to find her. The song is considerably more upbeat than the rest of the album on which it was released, “Station to Station”. It was chosen as the second single from the album in the UK, where it reached No. 33. With Bowie unable to perform on the show, Top of the Pops promoted the single with a bizarre interpretation from resident dance troupe Ruby Flipper. The B-side, "We Are the Dead", originally formed part of Bowie’s attempt to adapt Nineteen Eighty-Four, and had previously been released on the “Diamond Dogs” album.

David Bowie - Be My Wife b/w Speed Of Life (1977) - single

"Be My Wife" is a song and single by David Bowie. It toned down the electronic feel of the rest of the album. It also featured a more conventional set of lyrics, being closer to a traditional rock song than the more fragmented lyrics elsewhere on the album. Several analysts of Bowie's career have seen the song as a last-ditch plea to Angela Bowie in the vain hope of saving his marriage. Tension had arisen between the couple, and disagreements had risen over the location of a new residence in Europe. Angela had shown herself to be heavily affected by his music; he had proposed to her by playing "The Prettiest Star" to her over the telephone. In the end David would not agree to move back to Switzerland from Berlin, and the relationship finally ended in divorce in 1980. The song features a ragtime piano opening, which serves the somewhat retro lyrics some justice, although it is soon set against a backdrop of guitars and drums. The song repeats its lyrics, changing the spacing of the lyrics amongst the song's verse. The song closes simply with a fadeout, as the song returns to the introductory ragtime riff repeating indefinitely, with the rest of the band playing behind it. "Be My Wife" was the second single from the album “Low” after "Sound and Vision".

David Bowie - Ashes To Ashes b/w Move On (1980) - single

"Ashes to Ashes" is a song by David Bowie, released in 1980. It made No. 1 in the UK and was the first cut from the “Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)” album. As well as its musical qualities, it is noted for its innovative video, directed by Bowie and David Mallet.
Interviewed in 1980, Bowie described the song as "a nursery rhyme. It's very much a 1980s nursery rhyme. I think 1980s nursery rhymes will have a lot to do with the 1880s/1890s nursery rhymes which are all rather horrid and had little boys with their ears being cut off and stuff like that...". Years later, Bowie said that with "Ashes to Ashes" he was "wrapping up the seventies really" for himself, which "seemed a good enough epitaph for it".
Melancholic and introspective, "Ashes to Ashes" featured Bowie's reinterpretation of "a guy that's been in such an early song", namely Major Tom from his first hit in 1969, "Space Oddity". Described as "containing more messages per second" than any single released in 1980, the song also included plaintive reflections on the singer's moral and artistic journey:
Musically "Ashes to Ashes" was notable for its delicate synthetic string sound, counterpointed by hard-edged funk bass, and its complex vocal layering. Its choir-like textures were created by guitarist Chuck Hammer with four multi-tracked guitar synthesizers, each playing opposing chord inversions; this was underpinned by Bowie's dead-pan, chanted background voices.

David Bowie - Cat People (Putting Out Fire) b/w Paul´s Theme (Jogging Chase) (1982) - single

"Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" is a song by David Bowie, the title song of the 1982 film Cat People. It was written by Bowie with producer Giorgio Moroder. Paul Schrader engaged Bowie for a theme song in 1981, with Moroder having already recorded most of the music. Bowie was to put lyrics to the main theme.
The words only had a basic relation to the film. The B-side is a Moroder-only instrumental which featured no input from Bowie.
